R. Monte Snider

Robert Monte Snider R. Monte Snider, age 82, died Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Jackson, TN the eldest son, of R. Huley and Jane Howell Snider. He attended city schools and graduated from Jackson High in the infamous class of 1957. After graduation Mr. Snider started working at Piggly Wiggly Manufacturing. By his studies and hard work, he advanced in the company to draftsman engineer and designed the company’s produce, dairy and checkout counters until the business closed in April 1981. Mr. Snider took on as the third-generation owner of Snider’s Cabinet Works, established in 1916 located in Jackson. Mr. Snider was a naturally talented master craftsman who was well known to take good care of his customers throughout the years.

He was the master of memory, good humor, never met a stranger, his smile was contagious and to his family and close friends he was one of a kind.

He was baptized a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Snider also served 4 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Herron Snider of Jackson, TN; three daughters, Karen Anthony, Carol S. Taylor, and Catherine Snider of Jackson, TN; one brother, Sam (Celia) Snider of Jackson, TN; one sister, Maryann (Ricky) Pruitt of McKenzie, TN five grandchildren Julia Miller, Anna Massey, Glen Anthony, Jr., Lori Hurt (Brandon) and R. Parker Snider, all of Jackson and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Tony Snider, one sister, Martha Russell, and one grandson, Jacob A. Miller.

Special thank you to West Tennessee Hospice caregivers for their constant love and compassion during Monte’s journey home.

Pallbearers to serve are Glen Anthony, Jr., Brandon Hurt, R. Parker Snider, Caleb Massey, Brennen Anthony and Latham Butler.

SERVICES: A Graveside Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
