Funeral service for R. Lamar Gerstman, 65, will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Austinville Church of Christ with Mark Posey officiating with family and close friends to speak and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Austinville Church of Christ.
Mr. Gerstman died on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at UAB’s Pallative Care Unit. He was born January 24, 1952, in Morgan County to Oscar William Gerstman, Jr. and Mary Jane Engle Gerstman. He was an Elder and Deacon at Austinville Church of Christ and was a dedicated christian who spent much time reading his Bible, teaching, singing and listening to gospel music. He was a 1978 graduate of PHS as Valedictorian. He loved gardening, camping, geneology and traveling and was a master of fixing things. He loved his family and loved being a “Pepaw” for his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers: make memorials to the UAB Pallative and Comfort Care Unit@ UAB and/or the Lukemia Research Foundation.
