MONTGOMERY – On July 17, 2018, voters will return to the polls to make a final selection for the candidates they want to represent the Republican or Democrat party in the November General Election which will be held November 6, 2018.
As a result of legislation passed in the  2017 Session of the State Legislature sponsored by Senator Tom Whatley of Auburn and Representative Arnold Mooney of Indian Springs, voters will only be able to cast a ballot for the party that they selected in the June 6th Primary.
Some candidates for both parties have already been selected, but voters are encouraged to return to the polls to make the final selections for their party representatives.

Locally the only race in the Shoals area is the race involving incumbent state senator, Larry Stutts, of Tuscumbia. Stutts faces Steve Lolley, of Guin, in the runoff for the Senate Seat.  This district includes all of Colbert and Franklin counties, and portions of Lauderdale, Lawrence and Marion counties.

There will also be a runoff for supreme court, court of criminal appeals and court of civil appeals and there are Republican nomination for Lt. Governor, Attorney General and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.

There Will be no Primary ballot for the Democratic Party on Tuesday according to Lauderdale County Probate Judge Will Motlow
Polls will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on July 17, 2018.
