SHEFFIELD- Police from Sheffield and Tuscumbia are at the scene of a possible crime in Sheffield. Authorities are dragging the river near the Old Railroad Bridge in Sheffield where it appears a murder may have taken place. Evidence at the scene suggests that a murder may have occurred in the middle section of The Old Railroad Bridge on the O’Neal side of the bridge.
Evidence leads Authorities to believe a body could have been thrown from the bridge. According to a source people were walking on the old bridge and saw what appeared to be a large
amount of blood near the center of the bridge. They contacted the Sheffield Police Department and the investigation ensued and is ongoing.
The Tuscumbia Police Department was contacted due to the missing persons report on Brioni Rutland, 27, of Tuscumbia. The authorities are exploring the possibility that this scene and the disappearance of Rutland could be connected. Rutland’s car was found at the Village Apartments in Sheffield around 8 pm on Thursday and his cellphone and wallet have been located in a sewer in Florence.
