Port of Huntsville Releases Fiscal Year 2014 Annual Report

Huntsville international airportHUNTSVILLE– The Port of Huntsville released its annual report for fiscal year 2014 (July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014) this morning at its monthly board meeting. The report highlights the activities and operations of the three main operating entities of the Port of Huntsville – Huntsville International Airport (HSV), International Intermodal Center, and Jetplex Industrial Park.

According to Carl J. Gessler, Jr., M.D., chairman, the Port of Huntsville board of directors, “In the FY14 annual report, we highlight our collective efforts at the Port of Huntsville to provide quality of service for those who utilize our various facilities, interact with our staff and tenants, or reside in our industrial park. Every aspect of our operations strives to reflect a world-class image while enhancing the level of customer service experience at the Port of Huntsville.”

“During FY14, the Port of Huntsville made infrastructure investments such as the Group VI runway improvements; added runwayadvancements in technology systems, coordinated programs to improve airfare pricing and baggage delivery times – resulting in a 27% delivery time improvement year over year, and the offering of enhanced security screening, “stated Rick Tucker, executive director, Port of Huntsville.  “Our ongoing strategic initiatives have resulted in new companies locating within our industrial park such as Remington Outdoor Company, while continued national recognition as the 14th largest air cargo airport in the United States assures the Port of Huntsville a place among the elite in the global logistics market place.”

Tucker added, “In addition, safety is always at the top of our list with our 17th year of no infractions during our annual FAA certification inspection. We are also excited about the special civic recognition received as an outstanding gateway to our community, and the award-winning beautification endeavors. As well, we are extremely proud of the spirit of our employees who are giving back to others, in many different ways, in order to make a positive difference in our community.”

On a final note, Tucker expressed thanks to the communities in the Tennessee Valley for continuing to support the Port of Huntsville’s mission of providing multi-modal transportation services to a – diverse regional customer base and to stimulate the economic growth and development of the Tennessee Valley Region.
