FLORENCE – There was a really nice turnout Saturday at Pope’s Tavern’s 27th Annual Frontier Day Celebration. Pope’s Tavern sits just on the north end of Seminary Street. Folks have been driving by the place for many years, mostly without noticing. It is a superb museum of life in Early Florence.

Lots of people, enjoying the great weather, turned out for the open house. There were demonstrations galore of 19th Century farm craft. Blacksmithing, embroidery, soap making, household furnishings artisans and more.

The Quad-Cities Daily stopped by for a while to record some of the day in EVENT PHOTOS. We present them here.
