Funeral Services for Mrs. Polly Hickman, age 95 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Travis Mitchell and Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Hickman passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Clay County Hospital. She was born and raised in Bluff Springs, and was a lifelong resident of Clay County. She lived her life faithfully as a homemaker and housewife, raising her children and tending to her family. She helped her late husband Robert, with the Hickman Store in the Idaho Community for 20 years as well. Mrs. Polly enjoyed helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a caregiver to many others. Mrs. Hickman enjoyed quilting in her spare time, and was described as happy with a strong will to live. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister.
Mrs. Hickman is survived by two daughters: Rebecca Mitchell (Franklin) of Ashland and Elizabeth Reaves (David) of Talladega; her son-in-law, Robbie Wideman of Ashland; six grandsons: Christopher Reaves (Alyson), Jeremy Reaves (Candice), Tim Mitchell (Alyson), Scotty Wideman (Jessica), Brian Wideman, and Patrick Wideman; 8 great-grandchildren: Ava, Lexi, and Libbi Reaves, Abigail and Isabella Wideman, and Grey, Rhett, and Deacon Mitchell, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Arthur and Sleety Browning Crabtree; her husband, Robert F. Hickman; her daughter, Sandra Wideman; and four sisters.
Her grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland beginning at 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
