HUNTSVILLE  – Police are now saying that Delicia Patrice Barrow, who was found dead in her burned residence Saturday, actually murdered her son before taking her own life.

The body of the boy, 8-year-old Randle Carlton Barrow, was recovered from the Tennessee River Sunday night in the Honeycomb Area.

His mother’s body, 42, was found inside her burned home Saturday. Police say that she killed her son, ditched his body in the river, and then returned home and set the house on fire. It has been reported that Barrow’s husband was killed recently in a car wreck, which left her to care for their autistic son all by herself. The report indicated that the mother was overwhelmed by the events in her life. She had recently given temporary custody of her son to family friends, but still had contact with him. The implication is that she was overwhelmed by the events in her life and that she executed this weekend’s measure out of desperation.

Reports are circulating that Barrow was arrested for stabbing a nurse while she was being treated at Huntsville Hospital this past September.
