FLORENCE-The Pilot Club of Florence is sponsoring a bus trip to benefit the Pilot International Brain Safety and Fitness program. Since 1992, Pilot International has worked in the area of brain-related service. The Pilot has narrowed its focus to “Brain Safety and Fitness,” and Piolts of Florence have chosen this cause as a focus on a major fundraiser this year.
There will be a 4-day, 3-night bus trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas on October 21-24, 2013.
We will be visiting at ideal time to enjoy Fall Colors, attend 2 two shows in Eureka Springs, one of which may be The Great Passion Play, visit Thorncrown Chapel, Pea Ridge National Military Park, and Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, AR. Crystal Bridges, under auspices of Alice Walton, is the first major art museum to open in US since 1974 ranking at least in the top half dozen of American art museums. After perusing the museum galleries and outside sculpture garden, the day will be highlighted by dinner at Eleven, the upscale restaurant in the museum. You will have All-Day Pass on Eureka Springs Trolley for time and lunch on your own. Styled after colorful turn-of-the-century counterparts, the open-air trolleys are a fun way to travel around the city with several trolley routes to various locations around town. Take your time exploring the stores and enjoying the clean mountain air and admiring the impeccably preserved historic mountain town. The entire town of Eureka Springs is on the National Register for Historic Preservation.
Dinner at Forest Hill Restaurant
Evening entertainment will include choice of Intrigue Theater or Great Passion Play. Choice will be requested at time of booking. The Intrigue Theater is normally dark on Tuesday evening. Our tour group will be able to have private showing with minimum of 30 reservations. Great Passion Play ticket will allow person to visit Sacred Art Center, Bible Museum as well as pre-show vignettes of David the Shepherd and Parables of the Potter.

Visit Thorncrown Chapel – Designed by protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, E Fay Jones, we will hear brief presentation about chapel and its history with inspiring song by one of chapel musicians.
Pea Ridge National Military Park – On March 7-8, 1862, 26,000 soldiers fought to decide the fate of Missouri and the West. Pea Ridge was one of the most pivotal Civil War battles and is the most intact Civil War battlefield in the United States. We will have a 28-minute informational film followed by 7-mile bus tour with 10 stops with Park Ranger aboard to enhance the experience.
Crystal Bridges – Bentonville, AR – Museum of American Art – The museum’s glass-and-wood design features a series of pavilions nestled around two creek-fed ponds. The complex of galleries, several meeting and classroom spaces, a library, a sculpture garden, a gift shop, a full service restaurant and coffee bar, named the Eleven after the day the museum opened “11/11/11”. It is the first major art museum (over $200 million endowment) to open in the United States since 1974. The museum ranks at least in the top half-dozen of American art museums. The museum’s “quality and its range and depth already place it among one of the very best.”The museum’s permanent collection features American art from the Colonial era to contemporary work. The Crystal Bridges Overlook provides a multi-level stone seating area overlooking the Museum campus to enjoy the beauty of fall colors. The Way of Color is a “Skyspace”, a naked-eye viewing chamber that allows guests to view the sky through a round oculus in the roof. At sunset a programmed LED light display occurs inside the Skyspace changing colors against the Skyspace ceiling and our perception of the color of the sky viewed through the oculus. Audio guides available at no charge. Eleven is an upscale restaurant in the museum. Each person will have a gift card to purchase lunch on their own as well as enjoy dinner in the restaurant that evening.
