Phinus Stanley Brewer, age 84, of Columbia, Tennessee, formerly of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Assisted Living in Columbia, Tennessee.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at 3 p.m. EST at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST at Forest Hill Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mr. Brewer was born Nov. 27, 1931 in Tennessee. He was a business man, life insurance agent, and a grocery store and hotel owner.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Hornback; one brother, John Ross Brewer; stepfather, Millard Phillips; his mother, Flora Mae Phillips; and his father, Carl Stanley Brewer.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice R. Garland and husband, Newton Garland, of Athens; two grandsons, Eric Ballard, of Scottsville, Kentucky, Kenneth Sallee, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; one half-brother, Donald Phillips and his spouse; one niece, Pamela Casanova, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three nephews, Steven Dile, Gregory Hodge, and David Dile, all of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
