Mr. Phillip Ross Sterling, age 65, of the Snow Point community of Guntersville, Alabama passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at Marshall Medical Center North. He was born November 18, 1957 in Blount County, Alabama. His parents were Noah Joseph Sterling and Earline Woods Corbin. He and his wife, Nancy Joyce Thomas Sterling married in 1975 making 48 years together. Mr. Sterling was former owner and operator of both the tire store and Lonesome Dove Restaurant located at Rainbow Crossing in Blount County. He was a US Army veteran.
Phillip had many interest and many skills. He was considered “a jack of all trades and master of none.” When he wasn’t involved in a project he could often be found either hunting or fishing. He had a great sense of humor and was often planning and playing pranks to unsuspecting family and friends. His family and friends were very important to him and he loved each and every one.
Mr. Sterling is survived by his wife, Nancy Joyce Sterling; sons, Richard Sterling (Cathy) and Dwight Sterling (Amy); daughters, Kayla Hand (Billy) and Valerie Sterling; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Joe Sterling (Debbie); sister, Betty Dudley (Justin); a host of nieces and nephews and his best friend, Jimmy Taylor.
Mr. Sterling is preceded in death by his parents, Noah Sterling and Earline Corbin; granddaughters, Nicole Sterling and Hannah Rowe; grandson, Jr. Sterling; siblings, James Sterling and Carolyn Riggins.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel from the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at the chapel on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Brother Mike Smith will be officiating. Interment will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Blount County. Pallbearers escorting Mr. Sterling to his final resting place will be Richard Sterling, Dwight Sterling, Joseph Sterling, Cory Sterling, Scott Thomas, Jimmy Taylor and Billy Hand.
