Phillip Ray Silvey, 65, of Gadsden passed away on July 16, 2022 after an extended illness.

Phillip was born on October 13, 1956 to Dorothy and Albert Silvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Louis and Lola Mae Bates, Lela and James Silvey and father-in-law, Randy Davidson.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Steadman; grandson, Holden; chosen granddaughter, Addison; aunt, Sue McElwee and mother-in-law, Jane Zscheile.

Phillip’s entire career was in the grocery business. He worked at Piggly Wiggly for several years and finished his career in grocery merchandising with Specialty Foods. He was a 1975 graduate of Etowah High School. His favorite hobbies were visiting Bin Stores and watching Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show. He loved the simple life portrayed there.

At Phillip’s request, there will be no formal service. A graveside service will be held at Old Harmony Cemetery on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

Cremation Services provided by Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
