Philip W. Edwards Philip Wayne Edwards, 83, of Fort Payne passed away Friday, January 7, 2022. He will always be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend. First and foremost, he was a family man who was always there when you needed him. He enjoyed retirement after working with GameTime for more than 30 years as an Inventory Supervisor. In his spare time he was an avid and accomplished bowler; most recently placing 3rd at the Senior National Bowling Tournament in August 2021. Phil was an active member of the American Legion for more than 30 years and was a true patriot.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home with Chaplain Don Donaghy officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. View Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Legion, P.O. Box 681254 Fort Payne, AL. 35968.

He is survived by his children Rick Edwards, Randy Edwards (Beth), Kathy Barber (Todd), and Shari Dempsey; grandchildren Abby Paciotti (Tony), Jena Proctor (Kyle), Jill Rood (Joe), Jacob Edwards, Kevin Dempsey (Tori), John Edwards, Zachary Dempsey, Shawna Knight (Caleb), and Hannah Dempsey; and great-grandchildren Gemma & Ava Paciotti, Becca & Josie Proctor, Edward & Ainsley Rood, and Emerson Dempsey; and special friend Carolyn Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years Betty Edwards, his sister Julie Schmidt and parents George & Thelma Edwards.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
