Philip A. Roth Sr. passed away on 15 June, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 80. Phil was born in McSherrystown, Pa on 5 September 1933 and he and his wife of nearly 59 years settled in Huntsville in 1959. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He served his country from 1951 to 1955 in the U.S. Air Force and is a 1958 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Engineering. Phil spent the majority of his career right here in Huntsville working in the space industry. He is survived by his wife Rose and their seven children, daughter Tricia Masters and husband Justin of Huntsville, son Phil Jr. and wife Jami of Huntsville, daughter Kathy Bocking and husband Bill of Louisville, KY, daughter Beth Hagopian and husband Jeff of Huntsville, son Danny and wife Mary of Birmingham, AL, daughter Angie Crain and husband Brett of Huntsville, son Jon and wife Michelle of Huntsville. He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren Juliette, Jenny, Emily, Christopher, Anthony, Kaehler, Katelyn, Alex, Meghan, Ben, Ethan, Grace, Daniel, Nick, Abbey, Lily, Anna, Kayla, Jonathan, and Charlie; and five great grandchildren, James, Norah, Jack, Dyllan, and June. All his services will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Huntsville on Chaney Thompson Rd. There will be a visitation and prayer service on Wednesday evening, 18 June, from 6-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30. The funeral will be on Thursday, 19 June, at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Building Fund.
