Petrina “Trina” McKleroy passed from her earthly life early Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026. She died at home under hospice care after a difficult battle with cancer. Her son Wes McKleroy was with her standing watch. She was born November 9, 1960, in Huntsville, AL where she was raised and chose to live the rest of her life.

Trina never met a stranger and believed a positive outlook mattered most in life. This was obvious in her home where inspiring, motivational, and happy quotes were displayed on every wall. Trina loved the lake, but she considered the beach and the pool to be her happy places. Trina had three grandchildren, Vivian, Molly, and Declan, whom she gave center stage in her world. Trina was an avid bowler, spending over 40 years in the bowling community. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Huntsville United States Bowling Congress.

Trina was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Mae King, and by her sister, Patsy Whitsett.

She is survived by her son, Wesley McKleroy (Jenni); grandchildren, Vivian, Molly, and Declan; and sisters, Peggy Miller (Tommy) of Huntsville, AL and Penny Gray of Kingsport, TN.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. Mirroring her outlook on life, Trina loved bright colors, lots and lots of bright colors. Attendees to her Celebration of Life are welcome to wear bright and colorful clothing.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
