SHEFFIELD-Penny Freeman asks for your vote as she runs for Mayor of Sheffield.ย  She loves her city and has a vibrant and all incominsing plan to make Sheffield better.
ย Penny brings a plan ย to make Sheffield a city where streets are safe, city services function with excellence, and every neighborhood feels seen and clean.ย  Penny’s years as a nonprofit leader advocating for vulnerable families in addition to her time on the city council have shaped her into a worthy leader for a city in need of change.

Penny Freeman brings to her mayoral candidacy years of experience in organizing community and volunteer labor and managing big projects on a tight budget. The food pantry she founded has not only served thousands of families since its inception, but – in the middle of a pandemic that has seen food banks across the nation shut their doors in times of extreme need – has managed to turn away not a single person seeking aid.

Freeman’s work with community youth includes free personal tutoring in math, science, and reading, as well as advocacy for the creation of Sheffield’s Junior City Council – one of only four such organizations in the state. As a member of the Sheffield City Council, she has supported flood mitigation efforts to prevent devastating damages to Sheffield homes and small businesses.

“Revitalization isn’t a miracle; it’s a model, and we’ve built one that works,” Freeman said. “I’m ready to implement it … and I would like to have an opportunity to bring the city out of what has long been called a ‘slump’ and bring us closer to being able to thrive in a city that is inclusive of everyone.

“This campaign is about all the people who comprise our rich community fabric, and I promise this: The people of Sheffield will always come first.” ~ Penny Freeman
