Peggy CrumpPeggy Marie Crump joyfully went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born November 21, 1943, in Tupelo, Mississippi, as the youngest child of the late Tillman Rial Ewing and Dessie Grant Ewing.

After graduating from Tupelo High School, she married the love of her life Lester Ray Crump, which she always affectionately called Leck. They were inseparable for 63 wonderful years of marriage. Peggy began her career working for her parents’ company, Ewing Oil and Gas Company. She paused her working career to become the most wonderful mother to her two children, Anita and Brian. She resumed work after raising her children and spent 28 years with Bank of Mississippi (now Cadence Bank) before retiring. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law, with all her heart and spending time with family was everything to her.

Peggy loved being outdoors and gardening prior to a stroke she suffered in 2016.

She loved watching and cheering for the Atlanta Braves and the Memphis Grizzlies in addition to watching HGTV. She loved her church and was a lifelong member of the Tupelo Baptist Church.

Services will be 1 PM Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Mike Drewery officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Lester Ray Crump, of Tupelo, Mississippi, children, Anita Crump Giglio (Allen) of Tupelo, Mississippi, Brian Ray Crump (Rebecca) of Bethpage, Tennessee, three grandchildren, Easton Crump, Riley Crump, and Payton Crump, all of Bethpage, Tennessee. Sisters in law, Sue Comer of Sherman, Mississippi, Callie Crump of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Lee Ewing of Tupelo, Mississippi, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Livingston, and a brother James (Jim) Ewing.

Pallbearers will be Easton Crump, Allen Giglio, Ray Warren, Ray West, and Brian West.

The family wishes to thank Visiting Angels, especially Flo and Sylvia, the entire staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Pontotoc Hospital, and Sanctuary Hospice for the incredible and compassionate care she received before her death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tupelo Baptist Church, 1406 Eckford St., Tupelo, MS 38801 or Sanctuary Hospice, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.

Visitation will be 11-1 Tuesday.
