Funeral service for Peggy Louise Nelson Payne, 73, will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Eades officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Payne died on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born June 5, 1943, in Morgan County to Charlie Judson Nelson and Essie Lois Nelson. Mrs. Payne was the co-owner, along with her husband Gerald, of Gerald’s Family Restaurant for 33 years. She loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family and friends. She was a graduate of Speake High School. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a brother: Dorvan Nelson.
