Peggy Denton Patterson was born on May 10, 1945, in Double Springs, AL. She was a graduate of the class of 1963 at Winston County High School. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Double Springs. Peggy spent the majority of her career in the mobile home industry working in the office and finally in service management. She served on the Carl Elliott Public Library board in Double Springs for many years. Peggy was a talented seamstress and crafter and enjoyed making handbags and other sewing crafts. One of the hobbies she loved most was the time she spent acting on the stage. She had an absolute ball playing the role of “Thelma Lou” in the inaugural season of the outdoor drama Incident at Looney’s Tavern in Double Springs. She also played “Quiser Boudreaux” in the stage presentation of Steele Magnolias on the indoor stage at Looney’s. It should also be noted that Peggy was an avid animal lover. She had many special dogs during her life but one of the most rewarding things was her partnership with the Alabama Boston Terrier rescue group where she and her husband fostered and adopted several dogs over the years that came to them after being rescued from abusive homes. Peggy had a life well lived and her presence will be deeply missed by family and friends. Peggy is survived by her husband, Raven Lee Patterson; sons, Chris (Chanda) Patterson and Jeff (Nicole) Patterson; sister, Emmadean Denton Foretich; brother-in-law, Russ (Karla) Patterson; sister-in-law, Renee Oswalt; and special nieces, Karen Pulliam, Beth Wilson Gilbreath, Jessica Pulliam Singley, Sarah Bonds, Denise Nyberg, Danielle Martin, Melissa Peden, Michelle McMahon, and Melanie Heflin. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Parker Denton; sisters, Buna Warren and Melva Wilson; brothers, Rayburn Denton, Gilbert Denton, and Ralph Denton; in-laws, Rosa Lee and Lester Patterson; nieces, Deanna Sierawski and Doreen Dubois; and nephews, George Bonds and Tommy Bonds. Visitation will be Friday September 18, 2026, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Double Springs where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Brother Donnie Carroll, Brother Phillip Twilley, and Beth Wilson Gilbreath will officiate.
