Peggy Carter-Thompson, 66, of Sheffield, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. Visitation will be Friday, October 10, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Steve Hargrove and Linda Williamson officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Peggy, a member of the “Sheffield Mafia”, was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Carter; brother, Billy; and her beloved Louise Campbell.
She is survived by her devoted husband of forty years, Dan Thompson; children, Allison Jane Bradford (Zach) and Reece Carter Thompson; grandson, Adam Tyler Bradford; nieces, Sara and Audrey McKinney, and Tonya Baugh; and nephews, Sam McKinney and Mason Carter.
Pallbearers will be Paul Machtolff, Bobby Rutledge, Randy Hayes, Sam McKinney, Ian Sanford, Jay Gautney, John Carter, and Jamie Alexander. Cullen Grissom, Jack Turner, and Sam Turner will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Mark Wigger of Vanderbilt Medical Center for twenty-five years of excellent care, and to Dr. James Baker of St. Thomas Hospital for the same.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, heart.org, or to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
