Pedestrian Struck And Killed Near Cullman

CULLMAN-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one pedestrain and sent another to hospital:

“A single-vehicle crash involving two pedestrians that occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, has claimed the life of an Adelphi, Md. woman.

Madelyn R. Guerra, 20,  a pedestrian, who was sitting in the roadway, was fatally injured when she was struck by the 2022 Toyota Highlander driven by Julie B. Austel, 40, of Fortville, Ind. Guerra was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second pedestrian, Tierra R. Cathcart, 19, of Anniston, was also struck by the Toyota. Cathcart was injured and transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

 

The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near Alabama 69, approximately six miles south of Cullman, in Cullman County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
