Our Mom “Granny Pearl” to her Grands and Great Grandsz, Mrs. Pearlene Armstrong Whitaker, age 85 years young, peacefully ascended into the eternal arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 28th at 2:00 PM at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Reverend Joseph Green, Pastor Don Richey, and Minister George Bullock officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pearlene was born in Maury County and was the daughter of the late Alex Armstrong, Jr. and the late Fannie Elease Webster Armstrong. She graduated from Clarke Training School of Mt. Pleasant and worked at Lasco. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed baby sitting and loved to cook. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Price Whitaker; son, Vinson Price Whitaker; daughters, Cynthia (James) Grimes and Tiajuana (Tina) Whitaker, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Donna (Terrance) Ellis of Spring Hill, TN, Jason Grimes of Antioch, TN, Lakisha Whitaker of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Michael Cathey of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Shaneita N. Walker of Columbia, TN, and Vanessa (Frederick) Whitaker Echols of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Jailah Grimes of Antioch, TN, Zavien Ellis of Spring Hill, TN, Niya Ellis of Spring Hill, TN, LaDavian Houston of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Amari L. Johnson of Columbia, TN, Kingston Echols of Nashville, TN, and Marlee Echols of Nashville, TN; special niece, Carolyn Wright of Columbia, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, classmates, friends, and brothers and sisters of Christ.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her other siblings.
