Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Williams Willis, age 99 of Ashland, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Millerville Baptist Church beginning at 3:00 PM. Pastor Kenneth Neeley will officiate and burial will follow Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, GA.
Mrs. Willis was born in Clay County and always considered it her home. The family moved to Washington DC for a few years before moving back to Clay County where she finished school at Bibb Graves. She quickly moved to Washington DC to help in the war effort working for the Board of Economic Warfare shipping airplane parts for the US Navy. In 1942 she married C. Jeffrey Willis, also from Clay County, and moved to Los Angeles, CA. By 1945 the couple moved to Marietta, GA and began to raise their family of three children. In Marietta she worked for the US Veteran’s Administration for several years and for Lockhead Aircraft from 1956 to 1969 when she retired. They moved back to Clay County in 1978. Mrs. Willis later became a member of Millerville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Martha Corinne Hill of Springdale, AR, Robert Stanley Willis(Peggy) of Pace, FL and Margaret W. Graham(Jim) of Dallas, GA; four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; niece, Karen Williams Vaughn(Stephen) and her nother daughter, Ellen Sewell(Michael), and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Robert Williams, Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Hill Williams; husband C. Jeffrey Willis; infant son, Charles Edward Willis and brother, Oscar Robert Williams, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Monroe, Joshua Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Kenneth Willis, Ryan Deffley and Matthew Riley.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 at Millerville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Millerville Community Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
