Paula Carter Sanders

Paula Carter Sanders, 86, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2023. Paula was born January 10,1937 to Paul Harvill and Ruby Eleanor Gleaves Carter in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Huntsville High School and then attended classes at The University of Alabama, Huntsville. Paula fell in love with a close high school friend, W.F. Sanders, Jr., and they were married December 28, 1958. Paula’s time was predominately spent serving as a wife and mother to W.F. and their three children. During her free time, she enjoyed volunteering in the community where she served many years at First United Methodist Church and The Volunteer Bureau of Huntsville. Paula was a quiet soul who relished reading, playing cards with close friends, and traveling with her husband.

 

Paula leaves behind her husband, W.F. Sanders, Jr.; their three children, Paul Sanders, Greg Sanders, and Frances Clayton (Wes); three grandchildren, Sanders Clayton, Hannah Page Bell (Conner), and Alee Harris (Ben); two sisters, Eleanor Marvin, and Margaret Kelley (Joe); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to Jackie, Louella, Bobbie, and Lauren for all the love, support, and help they have provided for the family.

 

A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, April 18, at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations/memorials may be made to The Generosity Foundation, 730 Cook Avenue NW, Suite F, Huntsville, AL 35801.
