Dr. Paul W. Busby of Berry, AL, took Jesus by the hand and was escorted into his new heavenly home at 5 p.m. Sunday, August 30th. He left this world surrounded by his family and brothers and sisters in Christ singing hymns and lifting the name of his savior. Dr. Busby served 35 years in ministry pastoring several churches during this time, serving the Corona Baptist Church for the last 16 years. During this time, he earned his doctorate in theology and was an ordained elder in The Church of the Nazarene. However, his passion was spreading God’s word and singing with his family “The Busby’s” everywhere God opened the door. From a young age he had a natural ability to pick up any instrument and learn to play it, his heart was always filled with song that he loved to share with everyone he met.
Dr. Busby was preceded in death by his Daughter and Son-in-law-Greg and Crystal Earnest; his Father-Wallace Busby; his Mother-Ruth Busby; his Brothers-Jerry Busby and Johnny Busby and many friends and loved ones who were there to welcome him home.
He left behind his Wife of 43 years-Ruthie Busby; Daughter-Melia Traweek and husband Bobby Traweek; Sons-Shannon Busby and wife Jennifer Busby, Wesley Busby and wife Mandy Busby; 9 Grandchildren all from Berry, AL and countless others whose lives he had touched.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Dave Wyers and John Tyler Uptain will officiate. Burial will be at Salem Nazarene Cemetery.
