Paul Sidney Kelly, Jr., 64, a native of Huntsville, passed away Saturday. Mr. Kelly graduated from the University of Alabama and went on to work at Henderson National Bank and stayed there through name changes to First National Bank and AmSouth. In 1986, he became President and CEO of Monroe Business Equipment.
In 1993, Paul became the Finance Director (and later the Executive Director of Business) of the Huntsville City School system. He retired as Director of Finance and Administration of the Huntsville Madison County Airport Authority.
Paul was an Elder at Mayfair Church of Christ and was an active member of the Huntsville Rotary Club, where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. He was very active in numerous organizations including The Chamber of Commerce, past President of the ARC of Madison County and the Better Business Bureau. He was the recipient of the 1982 Huntsville Jaycees’ “Outstanding Young Business Leader” Award, and the 1991 Chamber “Small Business Executive of the Year”.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Susan Franks Kelly; son, Brian Kelly (April) of Marietta, GA; daughter, Alicia Kelly Stryker (Joseph) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Wyatt, Vivian and Nolan Stryker, all of Roswell, GA; uncle, Jack Kelly; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Mayfair Church of Christ, followed by the service. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
