Paul was born on May 12, 1968, in Chico, California, to parents, Archie Holloway and Donna Rae Held Matthews. Paul cherished every moment of his life, and his vibrant spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Paul had a deep passion for music, and he shared his talent as a drummer at Puckett’s in Leipers Fork and Layla’s on Lower Broadway. During his musical journey he had the privilege of performing at the historic Ryman Auditorium and opened for so many talented musicians such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and CCR.
Aside from his musical pursuits, Paul found immense joy in flower farming and his numerous pets. He had a strong work ethic and an adventurous spirit, which he applied to both his professional and personal life. As an executive recruiter for Northrop Grumman Corporation, he was dedicated to his career.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Jennifer Christine Nevins Matthews. He was a proud and loving father to his son, Jack Holloway Matthews of Raleigh, NC, and his daughter, Sophia Bernice Matthews of Baltimore, MD. Paul’s family was his greatest treasure, and he found joy and fulfillment in every moment spent with them.
Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Simpson (survived by husband, Dan Simpson), but he leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with family and friends.
Paul’s warm smile, kind heart, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, music, and hard work that will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
