Paul C. Tirey – Obituary

Paul C. Tirey, 88, of Tuscumbia, passed away June 4, 2014.

Visitation will be today from 1-3 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with funeral services to begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Dwight Rivers is officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Alice Tirey, ten brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Helen Tirey;

sons, Michael P. Tirey (Bonnie), of Colbert Heights, and Jeffrey L. Tirey (Barbara-Jo), of Greenhill, Alabama;

daughter, Lisa Tirey Matheny (Bill), of Dothan, Alabama;

honorary daughter, Rhonda “Crazy” Hester (Darrell);

grandchildren, Robyn Matheny George, Sara Matheny Deavers, Ashley Lynn Tirey, Tammy Hester, and Lori Alexander;

eight stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren, Hank, Preston, Courtney, Taylor, and Kole; eight stepgreat-grandchildren;

great-great-granddaughter, Claire; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Tirey was a member of Pride Baptist Church of Tuscumbia and a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War. Paul was owner and operator of Tirey’s Front End and Alignment for 20 years, and later retired from TVA.
