Paul Anthony Smith Sr., age 61, of Sulligent, AL, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2020 after his long battle with cancer.  He was born in Mobile, AL on January 22, 1959.  He attended school there for some time and later moved to the Richmond Community near Mooreville, MS.  He worked in construction for over 40 years and took much pride and passion in building homes.  He was a humble man with a humble heart, always helping others.  He was married to his wonderful wife, Kathy Jo (Canterberry) Smith for over 36 years.  They raised four children during this time.  He was an amazingly devoted husband and father.  He went on to become a wonderful grandfather as well.  His family was his everything, just as he was theirs.  After being diagnosed with cancer in 2016, he fought the awful disease with all he had.  God gave him the strength to survive almost four years and he was able to make many heartfelt memories with his family during this time.  Memories that will always be cherished and never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith, his daughter, Amanda (Dusty) Reeves, his custodial granddaughter, Autumn Carruth, his two sons, Paul (Becky) Smith, Jr. and Tim (Rebecca) Carruth, his three sisters, Jeannie Schmidt, Lynn Love and Darlene Smith, and his brother Charles (Christine) Sullivan.  He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gilmore, his son, Danny Carruth and his infant daughter, Mary Rose Smith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Otts Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  The family would deeply appreciate your prayers of strength and guidance in their difficult journey ahead.
