Patricia Simmons Huffman, 86, of Athens, passed away Thursday December 16, 2021, with her daughters by her side after a short battle with cancer.

She was born to the late Ralph and Frances Simmons on April 28, 1935, in Nashville; TN. Pat graduated from DuPont High School in Old Hickory Tennessee and Calhoun Community College in Decatur, AL. She married the late Russell Huffman in 1964, and lived in Murfreesboro, TN before relocating to Athens.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Frances Simmons; her husband Russell in 2014; and sons-in-law Robert McBay Sr., in 1998 and Don McMeans in 2019.

Pat is survived by two daughters, Harriet McMeans and Helen David both of Athens, AL. She is also survived by five grandchildren Patricia Donald, Beth Chambers (Joey), Rebecca Silas (Dustin), Trey McMeans, Robert McBay, Jr., (Valarie), and nine great grandchildren Caiden and Conor Donald, Kheagan and Aurora McBay, Jackson and Avery Silas, Luke and Will Chambers and Yiska Rager. Pat is also survived by her brother, Daniel Simmons of Lincoln, CA; and her sister Virginia Crimmons of Old Hickory TN and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was a TVA retiree, spending most of her career as a engineering drafts person. She was an accomplished pianist and seamstress along with enjoying time with her “Red Hat” and “Flapper” friends in their adventures.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 1:1-45 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home, with interment following visitation.

Pat requested that donations be made to support the Athens Boys and Girls club in lieu of flowers. Pallbearers will be Trey McMeans, Joey Chambers, Dustin Silas and Robert McBay.
