Patricia Dalton Barnes – Obituary

Mrs. Patricia Dalton Barnes, 86, of Huntsville, Al and originally Doniphan, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 3, 2016. A graduate and salutatorian of Doniphan High School, she received her Associates Degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Eugene “Gene” Barnes, as well as her parents, Arthur and Jesse Dalton, and sister, Fern Duncan.

Mrs. Barnes moved to Huntsville in 1952 with her husband, whose career with Thiokol Chemical Corporation spanned 37 years. Mrs. Barnes was employed by the US Army Missile Command and retired as a Civil Service Travel Specialist; arranging travel for many Army Officers and highly ranked Civil Servants.

She enjoyed lake life, was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and lived for the past 13 years at Brookdale Place at Jones Farm.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. John D. Barnes and wife, Gail B. Barnes, Roger S. Barnes and wife, Suzanne R. Barnes, all of Huntsville; grandchildren, Christina M. Barnes, Samuel A. Barnes and Matthew R. Barnes; and niece, Judy A. Cline of South Bend, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Huntsville, Alabama. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama. (www.laughlinservice.com)
