Patricia Blackwell – Obituary

Patricia Blackwell, age 65, died Tuesday, March 14th, at her home.

She was born July 8th, 1951, in Toccoa, Georgia, where she was active in her church and discovered her love of music that would define her life. Patricia attended Troy State University where she studied music and later became a choral teacher. Patricia was a gifted educator for 36 years teaching middle school students to find a love for music. She was active in the choral community through organizations such as HCDA, MENC, and AVA; she served on the board of the Alabama Vocal Association for nearly 20 years. She had a love for adventure, music, and cross stitching.

Patricia is survived by her husband Randy of Huntsville, son Rhett and daughter-in-law Sarah of Birmingham, mother Anne of Huntsville, brother John and sister-in-law Beth of Huntsville, and numerous cousins and family members.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 16th, at 11:30 at Berryhill Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 1:00. She is to be buried at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to two of Patricia’s favorite causes, Smile-A-Mile and Children’s of Alabama.
