SHEFFIELD-The Sheffield Police Department report a shooting at the Hillcrest Motel that has taken the life of the owner of the motel.
The shooting took place around 9:30AM on Thursday. Police Chief Ricky Terry reports a man enter the office of the motel shot and killed the owner. The shooter has been taken into custody and remains at the Sheffield Jail. Names have not been released and charges levied against the suspect have not been given. Chief Terry says he will release more information later Thursday afternoon.
Schools in Sheffield were placed on lockdown around 9:40AM and were under lockdown until around 10:00Am as a precautionary measure according to Chief Terry.

“Sheffield City Schools are cleared from an earlier lockdown after an incident in the city involving police in pursuit of a suspect. Schools were never in danger, nor was there any incident on campus. At approximately 9:40 a.m. Sheffield campuses —- acted on a ective from the Sheffield Police Department to go on a lockdown for safety precautions. The incident ended, and the lockdown was lifted by 10 a.m. Again, there was never an incident on campus, and this was a directive from the Sheffield Police Department. Thank you for your support.”
