Otis Rogers entered eternal rest on January 21, 2024, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Tate; Mother Parlee Rogers; father, Elder Melvin Rogers, Sr.; and brothers: Melvin Rogers Jr., Henry Lee Rogers Sr., Clayton Rogers, and Herman Rogers.
Otis Rogers accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America under the leadership of Reverend Fred Toney.
Otis was a graduate of Bob Jones High School class of 1980 and an employee of Madison County Board of Education as a School Bus Driver. In addition, he worked at Scientific Industry as a custodian and Kimco Facility Services LLC (Direct TV) as a supervisor for many years. Otis’ life was marked by his unwavering commitment to hard work, passion for lawncare and landscaping, love for music, and DJ’ing. He was also a skilled handyman going far and near helping other people; he was very dedicated to his work.
Otis could often be seen traveling with his brothers, singing as one of the “Rogers Brothers”. He was their Dress Coordinator. He did not mind telling it like it is. Otis had so much wisdom and shared it with everyone he encountered. When he talked, people listened.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving daughter, Tiffany Tate; three brothers: David Rogers (Mary), Norman Rogers Sr. (Valerie), and Calvin Rogers Sr. (Sarah); five sisters: Elder Lele Mae Parham, Maevene Rogers, Cora Hobbs (Deacon Moses, Sr.), Catherine Townsend (Henry, Sr.), and Rose Nance; mother-in-law, Christine Tate; eight sisters-in-law: Janet Dean (Larry), Letha Lanier (Greg), Sylvia White, Angelia Edwards, Benita Hopkins, Glady Rogers, Sheila Ezell (Ben Ezell); and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends who will fondly remember him.
