Othor Thornton, 77, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Friday, July 1, 2016.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 11 a.m. to noon at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately in the chapel with Frankie Raney officiating.
Mr. Thornton was raised around Moulton, Alabama. He helped his father farm, then went into construction as an insulator which he worked at until he retired. He enjoyed raising a garden, playing cards with his brothers, playing board games with his family, working puzzles, hunting, fishing, watching Gun Smoke, and playing his harmonica and guitar and yodeling his favorite songs by Jimmy Rodgers and Johnny Cash.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia Thornton; children, Dawn (Nick) Rudd, Mark (Rebecca) Thornton, David Thornton, and Anita (Aaron) Westfall; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
