Oscarene Hammond Newton – Obituary

oscerneOscarene Hammond Newton, 86, of Anderson died Monday, March 9th, 2015 at her residence. She was a member of Avon’s Presidents Club serving as a representative for 37 years.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12 – 2 at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel with Will Weir and Larry Sinyard officiating. Burial will be in Grassy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Micah Embry, Brant Johnson, Cole Robbins, Whitney Owens, Mark Hammond and Lynn Newton.
Mrs. Newton is was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Belle Hammond; brothers, Alton Hammond, Dennis “Pete” Hammond and Glen Hammond; sisters, Mildred Mewbourn and Virta Wilbourn; great-granddaughter, Amelia Gail Owens. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hulon Newton; daughters, Vickie (Phillip) Robbins, Shelia (Mark) Johnson and Amie (John) Embry; grandchildren, Micah (Courtney) Embry, Brant (Alisha) Johnson, Melia (Whitney) Owens and Cole Robbins; great-grandchildren, Addi Embry, Lexi Embry, Brady Owens, Asher Owens, Emma Johnson and Molly Johnson; sisters-in-law, Carol Sue Hammond, Frances Hammond, Ruby Newton and brother-in-law, Willard Newton.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials may be made to the Amelia Gail Owens Scholarship Fund at Lauderdale County High School, 201 Cedar St., Rogersville, AL 35652.
