Oscar Douglas “Doug” Reeves, 89, of Cherokee went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2013. His visitation will be on Sunday, April 21, at Morrison Funeral Home Cherokee from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Margerum United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Teehan officiating. The burial will follow at 3 p.m. at McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood, TN.
Oscar was a native of Wayne County Tennessee but spent most of his life in Cherokee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII, and was a retired Maintenance Supervisor at US Ag Chemical. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his children. He was one of the founding members of the Cherokee Dixie Youth Baseball League and served as president. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Margerum and loved his church and community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Juanita; his son, Joey Reeves and wife Joanne, and their children Jessica and Walker; his daughter, Cynthia and her husband Peter Meyer; and his sisters Neva Hines and June Dial.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
