Mr. Orlando Stanley Sr. was born May 7, 1952, to the late Ruby James Stanley and the late Ida Mae Stanley. He departed his life Dec. 19, 2013, at ECM Hospital. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Prospect Baptist Church, Chattanooga, Tenn. He later joined Mount Pleasant under the leadership of Pastor Charles Orr. He graduated from Riverside High in 1970 in Chattanooga, Tenn. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. He was employed by Dupont Corporation in Chattanooga, Tenn. He later moved to Sheffield, Ala. in 1986. His disposition was friendly, open, caring, and loving. He was a friend to all and a senior role model to many friends where he resided.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Orlando (Doris) Stanley Jr.; two brothers, Charles (Wayvean) Powell and Leo (Jewel) Eggleston; one sister, Alma Stanley Knowles; one aunt, Frances Evans; nieces; nephews; a special cousin, Olivia Thompson; and other cousins and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Stanley will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Leighton, Ala. Pastor Charles Orr is officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Leighton, Ala. Public viewing will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.
