After an extended illness, Opal Christine Landtroop Marlar, 82, left her earthly home on June 18, 2017, to join her heavenly family, and what a reunion it will be.
Visitation will be June 20, noon-2 p.m., at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Jim Hale and Billy Cotton with burial in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Marlar; father, Jessie Eugene Landtroop; mother, Opal Deleny Landtroop; sister, Nadine Trump; and brother, Jim Landtroop.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Evans (Bob), Muscle Shoals, Cheryl Parkes (Dennie), Russellville, and Pam Olive, Muscle Shoals; son, Tommy Marlar (Melissa), Muscle Shoals; two grandchildren, Abigail Christine Olive and Noah Leander Olive; brothers, George Landtroop (Doris), Florence, Eugene Landtroop (Judy), Michigan, and Bill Lee (Sue), Tennessee; sisters, Joyce Noyes (Malcolm), Tennessee, and Polly Hale (Jim), Tuscumbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Christine was a member of Abbie Baptist Church and retired from Reynolds Metals Company. She was a hard worker who could work circles around anyone. She was a loving, devoted mother to her children and adored her grandchildren who were the beat of her heart and the light in her eyes. Even though she will be missed every minute of every day, her family’s heart is warmed by knowing she will once again use her beautiful alto voice as she sings in the heavenly choir.
Special thanks to Kindred Hospice and all of her caregivers for the love and care that was shown during her illness. The family would also like to thank Mark, Dennis, and Josh at Avalon Drugs and Micah Battles for going above and beyond.
Pallbearers are Chuck Perkins, Blake Burden, Randy Bracken, Danny Joe Bracken, Mark Landtroop, and Jackie Norton.
Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. You may sign the online registry at colbertmemorial.com.
