ONLINE JOB ADS IN NOVEMBER UP 7.4% FROM LAST MONTH

Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, and Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers are the Top Jobs in November

MONTGOMERY – Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in November 2023, there were 84,859 job ads posted in Alabama.

The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, Fast Food and Counter Workers, Sales Reps, Wholesale & Manufacturing, Exc. Technical & Scientific Products, with 14,618 ads placed for those occupations in November.

The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.

In November 2023, there were 29,161 total job ads with salaries, including 7,244 jobs ads with salaries of $70,000 and above; 4,901 jobs ads with salaries in the $50-69,000 range; 7,469 jobs ads with salaries in the $35-50,000 range, and 9,547 jobs ads with salaries less than $35,000.

The top two employers posting the most online ads in November were UAB Medicine with 1,045 ads and Huntsville Hospital with 995. The rest of the top 10 were: Walmart (740), The University of Alabama at Birmingham (691), Pizza Hut (643), Dollar General (555), Baptist Health (511), The University of Alabama (510),USA Health (462), and Walgreen’s (441).

This month’s HWOL Occupation Focus is Computer Systems Analysts. Those employed in this occupation analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to develop and implement solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. They may also perform systems management and integration functions, improve existing computer systems, and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and schedule limitations. Typically, employees in these occupations usually need a Bachelor’s Degree. The advertised median salary for Computer Systems Analysts in Alabama is $104,832. This occupation has 390 Annual Total Openings in Alabama.
