O’Neal Rayburn, 83, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born May 16, 1931, to William and Sarah Lay Rayburn. He was a registered EMT and worked at North Mississippi Medical Center for several years. He owned and operated Rayburn’s Vacuum Shop in Tupelo for 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy on the USS Boxer. He was a member of the Center Star Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being around his family.
Services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, August 21, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Joey Hood will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Eupil Rayburn; three daughters, Renee Rayburn of Pontotoc, Shelia Rayburn and Lana Johnson, both of Tupelo; one sister, Marie Gann of Tupelo; one step-son, Gary Barnes (Terri) of Hawaii; six grandchildren, Christian Rocha, Josh Work, Haley Lopez, Cody Singthong, Megan Rayburn, and Hannah Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Amari Lopez and Kayden Salinas.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Collins; the mother of his children, Elaine Ausborn; his twin brother, Gene Rayburn, and eight other brothers; two sisters; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Larry Rayburn, Donald Lee Rayburn, Ricky Rayburn, Greg Guin, Joyce Hood, and Wayne Hood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Mantachie.
