One Person Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident Near Athens

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident near Athens has taken the life of a 28-year-old woman:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday, October 22, has claimed the life of a Quincy, Illinois woman.

Laurina R. Hernandez, 28, was fatally injured when the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe in which she was a passenger, left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. Hernandez was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Athens Limestone Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, Hayden Rose, 20, of Athens, was not injured in the crash, which occurred on Zehner Road, approximately four miles west of Athens, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
