Victim Identified; Suspect In Custody In Rogersville Shooting

ROGERSVILLE-Rogersville Police Chief Brian Hudson has identified the victim in the shooting that took place at Elk River Apartments on Wednesday as Larry Wayne Simpson, Jr., 37.  Simpson was pronounced deceased at the North Alabama Medical Center. Of the two people taken into custody on Wednesday, a man and a woman.  The woman was interviewed and released.

The ma, identified as Curtis James Sherrer, 22 was detained at the Lauderdale County Jail and has been charged with murder on a $150,000 bond.

After obtaining a search warrant Chief Hudson said officers went to a home on Lamar Road in Rogersville and found the gun.

Somewhere between 2 and 3PM on Wednesday, December 15 a shooting took place at the Elk River Apartments on County Road 91 in Rogersville. The name and age of the victim have not been released due to the ongoing investigation

The Rogersville Police Department responded finding one person suffering multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to Huntsville Hospital were they later died from their injuries according to investigators at the scene. Two people are in custody according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office pending further investigation of this event.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation of this shooting.
