ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement regarding the arrest of one suspect on Drug Charges early Friday morning, on November 4
“This morning shortly before 03:00 the police department received a noise complaint from the Sleep Inn located on Audubon Lane. Officers Jeff Gentilcore and Jason Mullins responded and contacted the offenders. While talking with the offenders officers noticed a plastic bag on the counter what drugs in it. Investigator Joe McClanahan was notified and responded also. After a brief investigation McClanahan, Mullins and Gentilcore located 2 bags of Methamphetamine, a glass pipe and a pistol. One of the bags weighed several ounces and the other weighed 4 grams. The value was estimated to be around $11,000.00 dollars. Valentine Nava was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
