One Dead One Injured In Collision With A Garbage Truck Near Athens

 ATHENS-On Friday, May 29 the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency report a two-vehicle accident near Athens that has taken the life of one person and sent another person to the hospital with injuries:

“A two-vehicle crash at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, has claimed the life of a Rogersville man.

Antonio Jamar Fuqua, 31, was killed when the 2003 KIA Sorento he was driving struck the rear of a 1999 International garbage truck. Fuqua, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the garbage truck was not injured, but the worker on the rear of the truck was injured and transported to a local area hospital.

 The crash occurred on U.S. 72 seven miles west of Athens. Nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.”
