One Dead After Single-Vehicle Accident On U.S. 278 Near Walnut Grove

WALNUT GROVE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident near Walnut Grov has taken the life of a Birmingham man:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:50 a.m. Monday, October 6, has claimed the life of a Birmingham man.

Abdul Hakeem Najee Rashad, 57, was fatally injured when the 2007 GMC Canyon he was driving left the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree. Rashad was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near the 112 mile marker, approximately one mile west of Walnut Grove, in Etowah County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
