ATHENS-A statement from Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson regarding an arrest made on Thursday, August 27 for oone suspect wanted in a Possession of Forged Instrument:

“Last night Charity Humphrey was arrested on a warrant for Possession of Forged Instruments.

In June of 2013 a check was cashed at Hometown Grocery on South Jefferson Street. The amount of the check was $342.77. The check was counterfeit and worthless. Investigator Jonathan Caldwell obtained the warrant for Humphrey after he determined she had possession of the check.

Humphrey was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
