DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department arrested one man after he struck a woman with a belt.  Here is how Decatur Police describe the events:

“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On October 30, 2014 Patrol Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 1874 Beltline Rd SW Decatur, AL 35601 to an assault of a nurse.
Officers learned that Karla Mason who was an Emergency Room nurse was tending to a patient, James Mitchell Tippett when he struck her with a belt. Karla was treated at Decatur Morgan Parkway Campus for non-life threatening injuries.
On March 9, 2015 Det. Joshua Fisher with the Violent Crimes Unit was notified of the assault and began an investigation.
Det. Fisher obtained an Assault 2nd Degree arrest warrant for James Tippett.
On March 11, 2015 Ofc. Jonathan Macklin and Ofc. Nicholas Hill with the Anti-Crime Unit located James at his residence. James was placed under arrest and escorted to the Decatur City Jail. James was booked in and charged for Assault 2nd Degree. He was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500.00 bond.”
