Ona Myrtle Pounders, 97, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at home. A native of Franklin County, she lived in Spruce Pine and Russellville all her life except for several years in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation for Mrs. Pounders will be Monday, April 3, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. The service will follow at 1 p.m. in Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with Johnny Richardson and Mike Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville.
Pallbearers will include Ed Marynowitz, Jared Woodward, Chase Davis, Luke Bradford, Clint Bradford, and Colton Bradford.
Mrs. Pounders’ survivors include her children Jerri Hamilton (Bob), Lamar Pounders (Betty), and Mike Pounders (Marsha); sister, Rumell Hovater; sister-in-law, Frances Pounders; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Pounders; parents Johnny and Ethel (Willis) Boyles; children, Steven Terry Pounders, Paul Maurice Pounders, and Nina Pearl Gaskins; siblings, Hansel Boyles, Arvin Boyles, Veda Jackson, Irene Bullington, and Marie James.
