Omer Lester Johnson, 101, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was a lifetime resident of Russellville and was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. He was retired as an operating engineer at TVA.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating will be Billy Thorn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Survivors include children, James O. Johnson, Decatur, Nancy P. Johnson and Clyde B. Johnson, both of Russellville; sisters, June Lindsey, Detroit, Michigan, and Rosalind Armor, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Cathy Bookout, Jimmy Johnson and Steve Johnson; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon Clyde and Willie Kimbrough Johnson; wife, Vivian Johnson; brother, Fred E. Johnson; sisters, Ludie Hester Harris and Ruby Busby; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Mollie James.
Pallbearers will be Harlan King, Buddy Fleming, Jerry Hovater, James Hester, John Bendall, and Harold Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Jonesboro Baptist Church, Russellville.
